All of these pieces were written and/or arranged by Howard Heitmeyer

DH Number is the cataglog number (DH2001, DH2002, etc)

WHAT IS A [CD FOLIO]?

A "CD Folio" is a piece of music bound in book form with the music engraved with Frederick Noad's "SpeedScore", also contains fingerboard diagrams (each note of piece is diagramed) and an audio CD describing how to play the piece with the entire piece played at the end as an example ( most CD's are about 60 minutes long).  Also a short biography of the composer and a short note from Howard Heitmeyer with autographed picture.  These  CD Folio's are very complete and can be used by anyone even if you don't read music.  The diagrams combined with the audio description makes playing the piece very simple although the piece of music may be complex.

Each one of these pieces comes with a "Guitar Fingerboard Chart".  A Guitar Fingerboard Chart shows
each note on the guitar.  There is a representation of the fingerboard and also each note is shown on a|
treble staff.  A great aid for learning the fingerboard and reading music.

A nice little Christmas piece by Howard Heitmeyer.  Not too hard to play.

Howard Heitmeyer, best known for his popular classical guitar arrangements, was born in Arizona. After completing high school Howard served in the military and was stationed in Europe. After leaving the military in 1946 he became interested in the guitar, and by 1948 he was established as a professional musician playing the jazz guitar in Phoenix night clubs. He decided to move to Los Angeles in 1955. He did club work in Los Angeles and started into studio work, doing motion pictures and records and along the way developed an interest in the classical guitar.  Howard now lives and teaches in North Hollywood, California.

Éric Alfred Leslie Satie (17 May 1866 – Paris, 1 July 1925) was a French composer and pianist.  Starting with his first composition in 1884, he signed his name as Erik Satie. Satie was introduced as a "gymnopedist" in 1887, shortly before writing his most famous compositions, the Gymnoedies. Later, he also referred to himself as a "phonometrician" (meaning "someone who measures sounds") preferring this designation to that of "musician" after having been called "a clumsy but subtle technician" in a book on contemporary French composers published in 1911.  Not too hard to play.

Johann Sebastian Bach (31 March 1685 died 28 July 1750) was a German composer, organist, harpsichordist, violist, and violinist whose ecclesiastical and secular works for choir, orchestra, and solo instruments drew together the strands of the Baroque period and brought it to its ultimate maturity. Although he did not introduce new forms, he enriched the prevailing German style with a robust contrapuntal  technique, an unrivalled control of harmonic and motivic organisation, and the adaptation of rhythms, forms and textures from abroad, particularly from Italy and France.

 Poor Butterfly" is a popular song. It was inspired by Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly and  contains a brief musical quote from the act 2 duet Tutti i fior in the verse.

The music was written by Raymond Hubbell, the lyrics by John Golden. The song was published in 1916. It  was introduced in the Broadway show  The Big Show, which opened in August 1916, and was sung in the show by Sophie Bernard.

The song became a pop standard, recorded by many artists.

Hard to play in spots.

Matteo Carcassi (1792 – 16 January 1853) was a famous Italian guitarist and composer.
Carcassi began with the piano, but learned guitar when still a child.  He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso concert guitarist.
He moved to Germany in 1810, gaining almost immediate success.  In 1815, he was living in Paris, earning his living as a teacher of both the piano and the guitar.  On a concert tour in Germany in 1819, he met his friend Antoine Meissonnier for the first time. Also a famous guitarist, Meissonnier published many of Carcassi's works in his Paris publishing house

This is a song about a Buddhist Monk who was in love with a Japanese girl and he wanted to give her a decoration for her hair. 

Yosakoi (よさこい) is also a unique style of dance that originated in Japan. Yosakoi started in the city of Kochi in 1954, as a modern rendition of "Awa Odori" a traditional summer dance.  Kochi is on the island of Shikoku, Japan.  

A complex piece but not difficult to learn with the diagrams.
